Before I Became a Dyslexia Assessor, I Was a Dyslexia Mum
Before I became a dyslexia assessor and specialist teacher, I was simply a mum trying to help her children learn to read.
Like many parents, I knew my daughters were bright, curious and full of potential. They loved stories and books, yet learning to read seemed much harder for them than it should have been.
I remember the frustration, the worry and the endless questions.
Was I doing something wrong?
Had I missed something?
Should I be doing more?
When one of my daughters was eventually identified as dyslexic, it changed everything. For the first time, we understood what was happening.
That experience set me on a path that ultimately led to a career supporting children and young people with dyslexia and other learning differences.
For more than 20 years, I have helped families gain the understanding, reassurance and practical guidance that I once needed myself.
I know how worrying it can feel when your child is struggling ... I also know how much can change when the right support is put in place.
